Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp walnuts
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp of parmesan cheese
  • 30g fresh basil
  • 1 garlic clove

Pesto is a great addition to a pasta dish but it can also be used as a salad dressing, a marinade or even a toast topping with eggs. Although this recipe uses walnuts you can also make it using other nuts such as pine nuts, cashews or brazil nuts. If you want to make this recipe vegan use nutritional yeast instead of parmesan.

Cooking Steps

    Crush your garlic using the edge of a knife and chop into small pieces and juice your lemon

    Juice your lemon and chop the parsley
  • 3
    Add the nuts to a blender and blend until there are no lumps
  • 4
    Add in all other ingredients and blend until you have a smooth texture (you can add more water if necessary, 1 tbsp at a time)
